HI, MY NAME IS RYAN

Directed By: Paul Eagleston & Stephen Rose

I am still not sure of the point of HI, MY NAME IS RYAN.  Maybe it is to show the tenacity of the human psyche.

Ryan is a dumpy young man from Arizona with a zest for the spotlight.  He sees himself as a performance artist and has surrounded himself with mentors and colleagues who perpetuate the idea.

Whatever Ryan is, he seems to have a knack for putting himself in front of a crowd.  You have to cheer his lack of self consciousness.   He is sometimes funny
and sometimes almost pathetic but always enthusiastic.

One of my favorite parts of the film was listening to one of Ryan's detractors rant, and not because I disliked Ryan, but, because the guy was so ridiculous.   I could not believe an adult could get so bent out of shape over the 'work' of a young kid.

I am not sure Ryan “the artist” is a force to be reckoned with but I can't help admiring a young man who refused to let life get the best of him.
