BEST OF FEST

An Evening of Independent Film

Presented by Indie Express

At The Victory Theatre Center

Indie Express has teamed up with The Victory Theatre Center, an intimate non-profit theatre company who has been developing new plays, producing world premieres and West Coast premieres of emerging talent for 27 years. We felt it was a good match as it is our goal to explore the breadth of talent in filmmaking, with a special focus on the truly independent filmmaker. We've been in talks with several filmmakers to create a screening series to showcase their films, hence the birth of Best of Fest.

Indie Express 'Best of Fest' premiered February 13, 2008 with Shelli Ryan's feature film JAKE'S CLOSET and Mischa Livingstone's short film A LITTLE NIGHT FRIGHT. It was a fantastic evening with a nice turnout. With the exception of a minor technical glitch between films (nothing that affected the viewing itself) the night turned out to be a great success.

The two stars of Livingstone's A LITTLE NIGHT FRIGHT, Harrison Schelter and Max Schelter, were on hand for the Q&A following the film. Livingstone could not attend as he was at the Berlin Film Festival where his same film was being shown to a packed audience of 1,000 viewers. For more on his experience in Berlin check out his Filmmaker Journal CLICK HERE

The star of JAKE'S CLOSET, Anthony DeMarco, was present for the Q&A along with Producer/Director Shelli Ryan, Lance W. Lanfear (Producer) and Joel Watson (Executive Producer).  JAKE'S CLOSET was a hit with the audience. The energy was intoxicating, as was the post-screening reception. Wine Sponsor The Accidental Wine Company served up some fine wines from their cellars and a nice spread of cheeses, breads, fruit and nuts complemented the evenings varietals.
