Below you will find some information about a new festival that is seeking submissions, sponsors and an audience.  It has been started by a great friend and filmmaker I know named Kris Rommel, along with his amazing wife Ashley.  Please go to the website and find as much info out about this festival as you can.  He is a great programmer and I will be there bringing you all the coverage along with our festival correspondent Tish Usher.  Look for more info on this site as I wil be talking about it often!

WHAT: The Derby City Film Festival

All screenings will be held at the historic:

Wednesday, October 8th 7pm - 11pm

Thursday, October 9th 7pm - 11pm

Friday October 10th 7pm - 11pm

Saturday October 11th 11am - 11pm

Sunday October 12th 11am - 7pm

 

TICKET PRICING AND SALES LOCATIONS:

Tentative ticket pricing will be as follows:

 

 

Festival Passes will be available for $100.00 and will

include:

Admission to all films each day (admit one), free admission to all after events, and 1 admission to the Sunday Awards dinner (if held).

Tickets to the Sunday Awards Dinner will be available on a per person basis with limited availability starting at $20.00.

 

Those who purchase day passes will receive free admission and $2.00 draft beer at the after party locations. Good only the day of your pass, SAVE YOUR TICKET!

 

Ticket sales began August 5th, we will take orders via phone or in person at several

locations. If you order over phone we will mail your tickets to you or hold them for you to pick up during the festival.

ACTIVITIES/AFTER PARTIES:

Round Table/Panel Discussions as well as filmmaker Q&A

sessions are planned. Filmmaker Q&A Sessions will be held after certain films where enough of the cast and crew are in attendance. Round table discussion topics and frequency will depend on those attendees who are willing to take part. A schedule

of discussions and topics will be made available in September.

While the festival will not be juried, there will be an Awards Competition. Winners will be determined by audience vote. Categories will include: Best Documentary, Best

Short Film, Best Feature Film and Best of Fest. Prizes and sponsors will be determined before the festival.

 

After parties will be held at 3 different clubs inside 4th Street Live!

The schedule is as follows:

Wednesday: Tengo sed Cantina

Thursday: Angels Rock Bar

Friday: Hotel NIght Club

Saturday: Angels Rock Bar

Admission will be free with a day pass from the festival. Admission is only good for the day in which the pass was issued. Each evening location will offer $2.00 Draft Beer to festival attendees.

The AWARDS DINNER will be held  on Sunday the 12th. Times will be announced soon. Tickets to the dinner will be limited to 150 people with first preference going to filmmakers and their guests. Tickets for the dinner will be $20.00 and will include 2

drink tickets and gratuity. Those who purchase a festival pass will be invited to the

dinner as part of the purchase of their pass. Feature filmmakers and sponsors who receive festival passes will be entitled to purchase additional tickets to the dinner for $15.00.

 

YOU MUST RESERVE or PURCHASE YOUR TICKET BY SEPTEMBER

25TH. If we do not have at least 50 tickets purchased the awards will be presented at the Louisville Memorial Auditorium after the last screening on Sunday.

 

FILMS/SCHEDULE:

We will be screening over 50 films during the duration of the festival. Film schedule will be announced in Mid-September. We are planning on grouping the films on specific days by genre. i.e. Wednesday: documentaries, Thursday: Comedy, etc. We will also be grouping short films as individual programs of 5-10 shorts per program.

 

INVITED GUESTS

We are currently in contact with, and have extended invitations to, well over a hundred film makers, actors, producers, directors and others in the film industry that have local and regional ties to attend the festival and screen their work if they would like to do so. We have confirmation from over 2 dozen already! More information on those who will attend will be released in September.

 

MERCHANDISING:

All film makers whose films are selected will have the opportunity to sell copies of their film and any related materials. Festival t-shirts, stickers and other items will also be available.

Gaffer Sponsorship: $75.00

Includes 2 Movie Tickets, a business listing in the film program and links to your website from our website

Camera Operator Sponsorship: $150.00

Includes 4 Movie Tickets, a business card size advertisement in the film program and links to your website from our website.

Actor Sponsorship: $300.00

Includes 2 day passes (Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday only), a business card size advertisement in the film program and links to your website from our website.

Director Sponsorship: $500.00

Includes 2 day passes (any day), a half page size advertisement in the film program, links to your website from our website, a slide in the pre-film slide show which will be shown between films, inclusion on all advertisements and promotions

Producer Sponsorship: $1000.00

Includes 2 Festival passes, a half page size advertisement in the film program, links to your website from our website, a slide in the pre-film slide show which will be shown between films, inclusion on all advertisements and promotions and a booth in the lobby during the festival

 

SUBMISSIONS:

Our primary focus of films that will be screened will be those with direct ties to the community, state and region. We will be accepting submissions and screening other films

from through out the country as well. Submission guidelines and procedure is available on the DCFF website. We will be selecting 60 to 75 films to show during the festival.

 

INTERNET:

www.derbycityfilmfest.com will be the center of information about the festival and will be updated daily as information is made available. Once the film schedule is released we will be adding info, clips, press and etc. about each film for the public to view.

 

FUNDRAISER:

A fundraiser for the festival will be held Thursday September 25th at O’Shea’s on Baxter Ave. from 7-10. There will be food, music, films and ticket raffles. Admission is $10.00. You may also purchase your tickets to the festival during the fundraiser.
