Most Selected Dutch (Short Film) Ever!

Four ten–year-olds are kicked out of their favorite playground by two aggressive drunkards. When they realize their parents are not going to help them, there’s only one solution. They have to find a way to get the toughest boy in the neighborhood to help them.

This is a marvelous film.  It’s a perfect short and could easily be made into a very good feature film.  The story is something that everyone can relate to, bully’s.  In the case of these kids, the bullies are grown men who are getting drunk in their playground.  The fact that they turn to the scariest kid they know for help is a wonderful plot device that you didn’t expect but wasn’t surprised by either.

The rest of the film will surprise you though.  The ingredient in the water guns was an inspired choice that left me giggling.  As well as the way the scariest kid in town disappears without celebrating with the others.  This is a very human and believable story that resonates.  It has great acting from the kids in the film, as well as a great script and a great eye behind the camera.  I loved this movie and can easily see why it is the most selected Dutch film ever.  Its really good.
