LATCH KEY

45 min., 2002

Director – Georgette Kleier

Producer – Bill Burns

Latch Key is the all too real story of three kids left alone after school.  The two siblings’ grandparents have moved to Florida and left them without an afternoon caretaker.  Wanting to prove to their parents that they can fend for themselves and that they don’t need a babysitter, the kids, along with a school friend, become the targets of a stranger who’s up to no good.  With good performances, especially by the kids, and a suspenseful plot, Latch Key brings your everyday fears to life.  The staff of the Derby City Film Festival wanted to call special attention to producer, Bill Burns.  They said that he attended every day of the festival and was supportive in every way possible.  The film received the festival award for Best Short Film.
