F'N FRANK

Directed By: Aaron Boyd

F’n Frank takes a humorous look at a serious subject - how adult behavior, specifically the use of profanity, affects toddlers.   Frank and wife Carol are profanity aficionados.  In fact, Carol's foul mouth is what attracted Frank.  All that changes when their son is born.  Carol stops cold turkey and demands Frank do the same.  Frank's struggle with Carol's ultimatum is amusing especially his interactions with the support group Cussing Anonymous.  There is a nice 'practice what you preach' twist at the end.

JUDY TOLL:  THE FUNNIEST WOMAN YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF

Directed By Gary Toll

This film is a brother's love letter to his older sister.  Gary Toll carefully weaves a story, using clips from home movies, Star Search, night club performances etc, that takes us from Judy's struggle as a young comic in Philadelphia to her eventual, hard won success in Hollywood.  How can one woman touch the lives of so many recognizable people and yet remain unknown to the average television/film audience?   I am embarrassed to admit I did not know her story.

Judy was determined to do things her way.  She wanted to be out in front of the audience not just writing behind the scenes.  Her story is inspirational and heartbreaking, funny and poignant.  The one thing I took away from this film is the importance of following one's dreams.  The description of Judy's encounter and ultimate battle with Scientology is worth the admission price.  See this one.
