LIVE EVIL
Directed By Jay Woelfel
Review By Shane Morton

What happens when a food source for a predator is gone? The species goes extinct. And that is what is happening to the Vampires. Human blood is no longer fit for consumption. Disease and all of the chemicals we now have in our blood-stream have rendered human blood almost poisonous to the vampire race. In a world where “pure” blood humans are rare, the vampires have begun fighting among themselves to secure their place in the world.
Add to this the narrative of a man looking for revenge upon the vampires that have changed his life forever. He is a cowboy hat wearing, samurai sword yielding, vampire killing priest who is out to destroy as many blood suckers as he can. The always wonderful Tim Thomerson plays the priest with a viscous wink in his eye. He knows exactly what film he is in and delivers his lines with a wink at the right time.
The mythology of this film is intriguing. Vampires come in different breeds. Sunlight hurts some but not others. Some have teeth in on their hands. It’s kind of weird but interesting. It is a pretty violent film with lots and lots of blood and gore. It’s fun and if you like vampire films you will enjoy this one. The only real disappointment was that I wanted to see more of the vamps fighting internally over the pure blood. I wanted to see them go to real extremes. That part of the premise and set-up never really delivered for me. But still I walked away having had a good time.
