My First War

Documentary, 2008

Director:  Yariv Mozer

Israel/ Hebrew with subtitles

82 minutes

Suddenly drafted into service as a reservist in the 2006 Lebanon war, Yariv Mozer grabs his rifle and video camera and carries both to the frontlines.  He gives us a first person video diary from the front of an apparently very polarizing war that many Israelis would rather forget.  Candid interviews with fellow soldiers during the conflict show the emotions of the soldiers amidst the chaotic reality and bloodshed of war.  Mozer also follows up with his comrades several months later in interviews where we see the scars and after effects war leaves on its combatants.  My First War is a very real, gritty, and powerful little piece.
