UNTITLED

UNTITLED asks the age old question - is art the thing itself or the idea of the thing?   Adrian (Adam Goldberg) is a composer/performance artist with a limited audience who thinks his brother, Josh (Eion Bailey), a painter, has sold out to the masses.  When Josh and his agent, Madeleine (Marley Shelton) come to see Adrian perform, she is intrigued.  We quickly learn that Madeleine is only using the proceeds from Josh's work to finance her more "visionary" clients.  Josh believes himself to be in love with Madeleine, who only has romantic eyes for Adrian.

I actually thought Untitled was more of a short idea than a full length feature.  There were some laughs but also a lot of drag.  Goldberg is terrific as the delusional Adrian but it is Shelton who adds the crackle to every scene.  She seems to be laughing with us the whole way through.   The small twist at the end is telegraphed.   And even though Adrian's final gallery performance was not a surprise it still made me chuckle.
